Nov. 3, 2026 El Cerrito City Council and WCCUSD school board election information

On Nov. 3, 2026, El Cerrito will elect city council members citywide for the last time. Two seats are open. The term is four years.
Voters in El Cerrito, Kensington, and parts of Richmond will elect the Area 5 representative on the West Contra Costa Unified School District board.
Also on the November ballot is the Area 4 seat. Area 4 includes El Sobrante, parts of Richmond and San Pablo, and a sliver of Pinole.
A map at the bottom of this post shows Area 4 and Area 5.
School board members serve for four years.
There is also a measure on the Nov. 3 ballot to renew a WCCUSD parcel tax.

- July 13 Filing opens
- Aug. 7 End of the filing period if incumbents in that race run
- Aug. 12 Filing period ends if an incumbent is not running
- Oct. 19 Last day to register to vote Nov. 3

Once the filing period ends, candidates will be invited to complete a questionnaire from El Cerrito Wire. Completed questionnaires submitted on time will be printed here as submitted, along with a photo. Candidates will have the opportunity to include a link to their campaign website and other contact information at the end of the questionnaire.
