Tenth potential candidate takes out papers in race for two El Cerrito City Council seats

Forrest Lanning took out papers to run for El Cerrito City Council Aug. 4, bringing to 10 the number of potential candidates in the race for two, four-year seats.

Wally Nowinski and Kimberly White have taken out and returned their papers, and the papers have been marked qualified. Mary Ann Jawili, Michael McDougall, and Gabe Quinto returned their papers Aug. 4.

The other people who have taken out but not yet returned papers are Rahul Iyer, Gaia Sonatina, Megan Steffen, and Carolyn Wysinger.

If both incumbents, Quinto and Wysinger, qualify, filing will close Aug. 7. If either does not, filing will close on Aug. 12.

 The election is Nov. 3.
